Day 1

  • Walking tour – Berlin’s East Side Gallery This introductory tour of Berlin focuses on the painful splitting of the city over night by the erection of the Berlin Wall, as we visit the renowned East Side Gallery where remnants of the wall were decorated by artists from all over the world in 1990.
  • Evening Meal – Traditional German cuisine in a wonderful central location
  • Reflections Challenge – An introduction to the CAS Trips Network and Reflections Centre with personal student and teacher logins, online itineraries and amazing group sharing capabilities.

Day 2

  • Walking Tour – historical Berlin – On this fascinating 2-3 hour tour of the main historical sights and landmarks of the city, our expert guides reveal the often unbelievable history of this incredible city, complete with tales of heroism and tragedy, love and war, victory and defeat.
  • Lunch
  • Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe – The iconic and deliberately disorientating Holocaust memorial is made up of over 19,000 m2 of concrete slabs, representing the Jews who fell victim to Hitler’s final solution.

Day 3

  • The Third Reich walking tour – By visiting many of the key sites and memorials of the Nazi regime we ask ourselves as a society how did this happen? We explore the military, political and indoctrinating tactics used by this movement of evil to consolidate power and how the rest of the world allowed it to happen.

  • Topography of Terror Museum – We visit the headquarters of of the Secret State Police, the SS and the Reich Security Main Office. The exhibition gives a chilling insight into the horrors performed during the Nazi regime.

Day 4

  • Sachsenhausen Concerntration Camp  – Just under an hour north of Berlin lies Sachsenhausen – a Nazi concentration camp in Oranienburg, Germany, used primarily for political prisoners from 1936 to the end of the Third Reich in May 1945. Our morning tour reveals the horrific realities of camp life and the fate of its prisoners.
  • Lunch
  • They myths of Germania tour – The Nazi’s were extremely ambitious and their future plans included grand urban development projects based upon the philosophies of fascist rule. This fascinating exhibition takes an in-depth look at Hitler’s vision for a future Nazi society.
