This fantastically active and creative itinerary focuses on the latest in Contemporary Art, Design and Architecture. Students will explore the cultural origins of Prague’s modern art and design scene and participate in creating their own art and design projects.

Through walking tours, street art and design workshops and museum visits, students will discover and try a diverse range of modern art.

Day 1

  • Airport pick-up by your dedicated CAS Trips tour guide
  • Hotel drop-off
  • Walking tour – A fascinating introductory tour through Prague’s Old Town, New Town and The Jewish Quarter – exploring the incredible 1,200 year history, culture, legends and art of Bohemia
  • Evening meal – Traditional Czech cuisine in an authentic medieval tavern
  • Reflections Challenge – An introduction to the CAS Trips Network and Reflections Centre with personal student and teacher logins, online itineraries and amazing group sharing capabilities.

Day 2

  • Architecture Walking tour – Prague is one of Europe’s most stunning architectural gems, with over 1000 years of architecture and design represented in it’s perfectly preserved skyline. This tour explores the ages and styles of architecture and culminates with a trip up the intriguing modern ‘Zizkov “baby” Tower’ to experience it’s 216m observatory.
  • Lunch
  • Design Disco Workshop – Following a morning of architectural discovery, students will work in small groups to try their hands at a conceptual design challenges such as ‘the egg drop challenge’ and ‘aggregation’ in partnership with professional design team Design Disco.
  • Evening Meal 
  • NB – Evening activities are optional extras but can include Vltava river cruise, cinema, bowling, Bohemian Black Light Theatre, ice skating, final evening non-alco Disco. Enquire for more details.

Day 3

  • Street Art Walking Tour – Since the fall of Communism in 1989, Prague has blossomed into a major centre for modern art and street art. This tour explores grafitti hotspots, urban design and how modern art has been used as an expression of this relatively new country’s identity.
  • Lunch – at Cross Club: Prague’s most progressive and uniquely designed music venue
  • Street Art Workshop – At the heart of Prague’s urban art district Holesovice, students will learn about the techniques and styles of street art and graffiti before producing their own canvas to take home, in partnership with our professional street artist team at Alternative Tours.

Day 4

  • Your CAS Trips guide hotel pick-up
  • Museum Visit – DOX contemporary art museum is an inspiring and forward thinking museum and arts centre. We visit DOX’s latest exhibit and take part in a fascinating interactive workshop led by the exhibit’s curator.
  • Lunch
  • Design Disco workshop – in partnership with Design Disco, students will be introduced to intriguing architecture and design methods before producing their own portfolio projects using techniques such as aggregation and mental mapping, all at the premises of ARCHIP.
  • Evening Meal – Czech cuisine in a spectacular location with stunning views of the city.

Day 5

  • Free time for souvenir shopping
