The CAS Trips Way

Designed by IB teachers for IB students, CAS Trips are re-inventing the concept of educational travel.

Engaging the International Baccalaureate’s 7 Learning Outcomes, CAS Trips not only introduces students to incredible new cultures but strives to develop conscientious young global citizens.

The CAS Trips Global Student Exchange is a once in a lifetime opportunity for students from all over the world to come together in one it’s most beautiful cities: Prague.

Students will work collaboratively to tackle fascinating Creativity, Activity and Service tasks. Working with our charity partners, the students will confront the realities of Global Issues of Importance such as homelessness, social enterprise, the environment and sustainable design with a series of exciting volunteer team challenges.

An intrinsic part of IB philosophy is reflection and through engaging daily Reflection Workshops and our online CAS Connect! portal, students will be set exciting multi-media Reflection Challenges to explore the true impact of their experiences.

The CAS Trips Team

Our dedicated CAS Trips Team will be on hand to assist students every step of the way, 24 hours a day – from the moment they arrive to the goodbye wave-off through departures.

To ensure the best pastoral care and support possible for each student, we operate a hierarchical staff structure of Director, Coordinator, Group Leaders, and Mentors.

Our experienced team of professional Tour Guides and live-in pastoral care Mentors are highly trained and ready to help in any situation.

The Itinerary

Prague, Czech Republic

The Golden City of Prague is a truly magical place. Set on the majestic River Vltava, Prague is home to some of the most beautiful architecture in the world. From stunning gothic cathedrals to awe-inspiring art nouveau concert halls, the capital of Bohemia is one of the most charming ancient cities on earth.

Now home to 1.3million people as the multi-cultural capital of Czech Republic, Prague also has a fascinating past. From The Celts to The Habsburgs, Kings and Queens, through Nazism and Communism, World War I and World War II, Prague is steeped in history.

All of this is brought to life in spectacular fashion by the buildings, monuments and natural scenery of this enchanting 1,100-year-old city – making Prague the perfect destination for our Global Student Exchange.

  • Spending money – All meals and excursions are included so the only added expense for students is spending money for souvenirs etc.
  • Travel Insurance – Comprehensive travel insurance is obligatory and can be provided by our partners at STA Educational Travel for as little as $49
  • Before: Your dedicated personal CAS Trips coordinator will help you throughout the booking procedure and preparation stages.
  • All teachers, students and parents will be given login details to the CAS Trips Network Space where they can access important information such as detailed itineraries, meal choices, activity details and shared media.
  • Students from around the world, partaking in the same session will be invited to join a private CAS Trips Facebook group to get to know each other prior to arrival.
  • During: The CAS Trips team will be on hand to support students at all times and in all situations while in Prague.
  • Parents can follow the fun online through posts and pictures from students and staff in the CAS Trips’ Network Space’s shared media gallery.
  • After: Students will be working closely with several local and international charities while in Prague and we will happily facilitate long-term sustainable projects with the charities as part of the students’ ongoing CAS Projects.
  • All the information and resources in the CAS Connect! network space and Reflections Centre will remain accessible for up 2 months after the camp.

Food & Accommodation

  • Alongside the delights of traditional Czech food, Prague is blossoming into a European capital of cuisine. We pride ourselves on the quality and variety of our meals.
  • All dietary requirements will be catered for if specified in advance and all food orders will be made in advance online via CAS Connect!

Prague Spring 2018 will be based at COSMOPOLE HOSTEL. Cosmopole has excellent facilities including a large common room area, pool table, table tennis table, cafe, panoramic terrace, restaurant and Wi-Fi internet.

  • Situated at the heart of Prague’s New Town, Cosmopole is steps away from the historic Karlovo Namesti, 2 minutes walk from the River Vltava & 5 minutes walk from the charming Old Town square.

  • Prague Spring 2018 has been specifically designed to bring IB students from all over the world to work, explore and learn together.
  • We align our pedagogical philosophy with that of the IB, however Prague Spring is suitable for all student types, studying any curriculum, from ages 13-18.
  • Our principal aims are to Educate, Challenge and Inspire students, using a framework of Creativity, Activity and Service to create incredible adventures with memories that stay with students for a lifetime.
  • Our itineraries are based on IB’s 7 LEARNING OUTCOMES and LEARNER PROFILE and the activities and challenges we organise will push students out of their physical and mental comfort zone.
  • By engaging with Charity Work and Global Issues of Importance, we aim to show students that CAS need not be a burden but, in fact, should be incredibly rewarding and truly exciting.
  • We aim to show how the maxim Think Global, Act Local can work in reality, by exploring the context and background of a Global Issue, engaging with charities and NGOS combating the issue and developing understanding, knowledge and motivation for students to continue working to tackle these issues back home.
  • CAS Trips can also facilitate long-term sustainable projects between the charities and your school, although this is of course not obligatory. Please ask for more details.
  • We also place a strong emphasis on engaging with reflection and through our Reflections Challenges and Workshops, we aim to show students how to produce meaningful reflections and demonstrate how painless they can be!

Safety & Insurance

24/7 support

We offer 24-hour online support via email ahead of your trip while Skype calls can be arranged in advance to discuss any concerns.

During students’ time in Prague, parents will be provided with 24h telephone numbers of the Camp Director and their child’s group monitor, detailed timetables and access CAS Connect! online.

Full risk assessment

All activities and challenges listed in the itinerary are fully risk assessed by our professional team, including detailed evaluation of any potential risks, thorough procedures, nearest medical centres, localizations and contact information.

This will be automatically uploaded to CAS Connect! but can be provided in advance, upon request

Qualified guides

All CAS Trips Tour Guides are fully qualified, full-time guides with years of experience managing big groups. All are university-educated and native or fluent English speakers with current CPR and First Aid certificates.

Buddy system

CAS Trips activities, tours and challenges are staffed at a staff:student ratio of minimum 1:10.

However, we also implement a ‘buddy’ system at the beginning of each session – in which each student paired with and assumes responsibility for another’s welfare, safety and whereabouts.

Free time is allocated in controlled environments and each group of a minimum of 3 students is assigned a CAS Trips mobile phone for emergency use.


Travel Insurance

All participants must be covered by comprehensive travel and health insurance. This is not included in our price but can be provided by our partners at STA Educational Travel for as little as $49

Expectation of students

We have a very clear and strict set of rules which we expect all participants to sign and adhere to.

For any participant found to be breaking these rules during the CAS Trips Intercultural Exchange, we reserve the right to send them home at their own expense .


Payment Plans

All you need to guarantee your place is to make a $299 non-refundable deposit. After that, we offer 2 types of payment plans to suit you:


Pay the full amount and deposit upon enrollment


Pay the deposit and then talk to us regarding a customised payment plan, with final balance due 2 months prior to departure.

We actively encourage students in fundraising before, during and after each CAS Trip.

Fundraising is an excellent way to promote awareness and contribute to charity.

With a heavy focus being placed on volunteer work and charity challenges during the CAS Trips Intercultural Exchange, we have developed several resources including posters and fundraising project ideas to help inspire student efforts.

Long-term Sustainable Projects

During each student’s time in Prague, they will be engaging with some fantastic, inspiring Creativity, Activity and Service experiences which will almost certainly introduce fun new skills, themes and challenges.

We support the research of these various themes and activities in advance of arrival by providing information packs to students and teachers.

We hope that students’ time and experiences spent in Prague lead to a deeper understanding and curiosity of the themes encountered. If students wish to become actively involved in long-term, projects with our charity partners, we facilitate this a series of projects:

Pragulic: Help rehabilitate your homeless guide

Novy Prostor: Contribute to the content and running of a Street Magazine

Sue Ryder: Support Alzheimer’s patients and carers

Nadeje: Refurbish a homeless shelter in need of support

Travel Documents


All participants must have a passport that is valid for at least six months and has at least three blank pages.

  • If you are travelling on the CAS Trips Group Flight, please ensure your submit your name, exactly as it appears on your passport (including middle name(s)).
  • Failure to do so could lead to complications and charges.


Passport holders from the following countries do NOT require a visa prior to arrival in Czech Republic for a stay of up to 90 days:

  • UK and other EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland,
