Day 1

  • Airport pick-up by your dedicated CAS Trips tour guide
  • Accommodation* drop-off and check-in
  • Evening Meal – Traditional Czech cuisine in an authentic medieval tavern at Krcma
  • Reflections Challenge – An introduction to the CAS Trips Network and Reflections Centre with personal student and teacher logins, online itineraries and amazing group sharing capabilities.
  • Walking tour – A fascinating introductory tour through Prague’s Old Town, New Town and The Jewish Quarter by night – exploring the incredible 1,200 year history, culture, legends and art of Bohemia

Day 2

  • Urban Treasure Hunt In small teams, students will using their instinct, intelligence and newly-acquired historical knowledge in search of monuments, clues and hints to solve the Ancient Bohemian Treasure Hunt. There is a 2-hour time limit and groups can use CAS Trips mobiles to SMS for hints. Prizes for the winners.
  • Lunch on Prosek Bobova Restaurace‘s panoramic terrace
  • Bobsleigh – Prague’s one and only outdoor metal bobsleigh track, Prosek, offers 800m of thrilling circuit in which the brave can reach speeds of up to 60 km/h. The activity requires balance, control, judgement and skill. It is safe and a lot of fun! Maximum 3 rides per student, tandem runs possible.
  • Evening Meal – Italian cuisine at the excellent La Piccola Perla
  • Free time

Day 3

  • Walking tour – Prague’s castle is iconic and it’s rich 1,000-year architectural, political and military history makes for a fascinating visit. We explore the stunning gardens before entering the castle grounds including St Vitus Cathedral – the largest Gothic cathedral in Northern Europe.
  • Lunch – exquisite Thai cuisine at Lemon Leaf
  • Free Time – Students can explore Prague city centre further or do some souvenir shopping in this afternoon of down time.
  • Evening Meal  Tasty Mexican at La Cantina
  • Classical concert – a delightful evening of classical orchestral music in one of Prague’s stunning Baroque or Renaissance concert halls.

Day 4

  • Nadeje cooking challenge – In co-operation with Prague’s most out-reaching homeless charity Nadeje, students must work as a team to plan, prepare, cook and distribute a meal for 50+ homeless. There is a 2-hour and a €200 limit so efficiency and collaboration are essential.
  • Lunch – students will eat the same food they produce so it had better be good!
  • Pragulic Homeless Walking tour – See Prague from a completely different perspective with one of PRAGULIC homeless guides. Visit a homeless colony and discover the hard truth behind life on the streets, including the tragic personal story of the guide, insights into the causes of homelessness as well as what constitutes a homeless diet and street survival insights.
  • Evening Meal – Czech cuisine in a spectacular location with stunning views of the city.
  • Black Light Theater – The traditions of Bohemian Black Light Theatre date back to the mid-20th century. The visually spectacular shows use extravagant costumes, stunts and UV light to wow the audience.

Day 5

  • Travel to Krakow**

  • Evening Meal – Traditional Polish cuisine in a antiquated Old Town restaurant
  • Free time – students can explore the Old Town or rest at the centrally-located accommodation

Day 6

  • Day Trip to Auschwitz-Birkenau – situated 1 hour from Krakow is the Auschwitz-Birkenau Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp where approximately 1 million men, women and children perished from 1941-1945.  In this day trip, participants will learn the shocking truths behind the camps during this emotional but extremely important excursion. Private transport, an authorised English-speaking guide and lunch are included.
  • Free time Returning to Krakow in mid/late-afternoon, students may wish to take the time to reflect on their experiences or use the time to further explore Krakow
  • Evening MealKrakow’s best burgers at Moaburger
  • Film night Ahead of the following day’s activities, we watch the multi-award winning Schindler’s List, directed by Steven Spielberg and based on the remarkable real life story of Krakow’s own Oskar Schindler.

Day 7

  • Schindler’s Factory tour – acclaimed as one of the best historical museums in Poland, the factory made world famous by Spielberg’s 1993 film has now been turned into a compelling museum after its refurbishment in 2010. We will discover the intricate details of Oskar Schindler’s story as well as be transported through time in the fascinating Krakow Under Nazi Occupation 1939-1945 exhibit.
  • Lunch – lunch like the locals at Bagelmama
  • Free Time – to explore the adjoining MOCAK contemporary art museum or go souvenir shopping
  • Evening Meal  a purely Polish experience at the traditional Restaurant Ogniem i Mieczem
  • Walking Tour – we explore the spell-binding ancient and modern history and legends of Krakow’s cobblestone streets by night.

Day 8

  • Travel to Berlin**

Day 9

  • Street Art tour – in co-operation with Alternative Berlin, you will discover all about Berlin’s incredible urban street art scene – discovering the latest and greatest graffiti and mural art as well as visiting the studios of some prominent local artists. We will visit all the hot spots and discover how this global phenomena has come to be such a powerful mode of expression.
  • Lunch – we stop off at a local street artists’ favourite cafe for lunch
  • Street Art workshop – Lead by Alternative Berlin‘s professional street artist team in the wonderful setting of an abandoned margarine factory, you will learn all about street art and graffiti techniques before creating one of your very own street art canvases to take home as a memento of this truly Berlin experience.
  • Evening Meal Contemporary German and international cuisine at Leipenhausen.
  • Free Timeto enjoy the scintillating atmosphere of Berlin by night

Day 10

  • Fat Tire bike tour – Berlin is an enormous metropolis of 3.5 million people and there is no better way to the whole city than by bike. In co-operation with Fat Tire Bike Tours, we learn all about the life of Soviet-enforced Communism on the East side of the Berlin Wall and take in unmissable sights such as Alexanderplatz, The Brandenburg Gates, the Memorial to the murdered Jews of Europe, the Reichstag Building and much more.
  • Lunch – a buffet lunch of varied world flavours at the downtown World Cafe
  • DDR Museum of Communism – this world-class museum is not just your average display of a bygone era. This truly dynamic exhibit allows you to see, touch, feel, smell and interact with life in the German Democratic Republic of 1949-1990
  • Evening Meal  a wonderful hearty meal of traditional German cuisine at Brauhaus
  • Free Time – down time to enjoy the city’s many evening cultural activities.

Day 11

  • Kreuzberg cultural event – we take advantage of the constantly changing cultural climate of Kreuzberg, home of the ‘Hipster’, as we work in co-operation with local institutions and get directly involved with one of the innovative community arts projects.
  • Lunch – a wonderful lunch of organic cuisine at a BitCoin cafe in the hip Kreuzberg area.
  • Free Time – the area of Kreuzberg is a modern day wonderland of bustling markets, innovative design shops and quaint cafes, perfect for an afternoon exploration and last-minute souvenir shopping
  • Evening Meal -for our final group evening meal, we treat you to an unforgettable dining experience in a spectacular setting
  • Final show – we could not let your CAS Trip come to an end without some fireworks! We head out into Berlin for a surprise show to live long in the memory.
